New Haven Land Trust seeks Sailing Instructors, Environmental Educators,
and Program Directors for Schooner Camp , summer day camp for ages
6-14. Have an awesome summer on Long Island Sound!
Position Title: Environmental Educator, age 20+
Lead activities for groups of 8-10 children. Educational activities connect campers to the New
Haven coastline, pique an interest in coastal ecosystems and marine biology, inspire campers
to be stewards of their environment, and provide a fun and safe summer experience on the New
Haven Land Trust’s Long Wharf Nature Preserve. Preferred Bachelor’s Degree.
Position Title: Sailing Instructor, age 18+
Sailing Instructors lead groups of 8-10 campers ages 9 -14 on basic boat safety, how to sail and
skipper a small sailboat, detailed boat handling and maneuvers, knot tying, and provide for
adventure sails on the protected waters of the New Haven Harbor with our fleet of FunBoats,
Picos and 420s. Must have Level 1 Sailing Certification, First Aid/CPR and a boating license.
We are also hiring a Waterfront Director, age 20+ who must have Lifeguard Certification.
Also Hiring: Assistant Director, Arts & Crafts Director, Waterfront Dir.
We are seeking an Assistant Director to help with day to day camp operations, support of camp
staff and campers. The Arts & Crafts Director takes on many roles, including leading daily arts &
crafts activities. See Sailing Instructor section for information on Waterfront Director position.
Employment and Scheduling Details: Seasonal, 40hrs/week from mid-June until mid-August.
Daily schedule from 8am to 3:30pm, M-F. Staff must be available for ALL dates.
Compensation: $15-$20/hr depending on position and experience
